EX IGP RINGIM LEAVES NIGERIA WITH BOKO HARAM KINGPIN’S CELL PHONE

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Hafiz Ringim allegedly left Nigeria through Ghana a day after he grudgingly handed over to the new police boss, Mohammed Abubakar with a cell phone and other items recovered from Kabiru Sokoto when he was first arrested.

Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that after handing   over, he did not return to his official residence in Maitama, and did not go to his private house either.

Pointblanknews.com had reported that Ringim was secretly moving his belongings from his Maitama home, few days before he left.

Ringim is believed to have left Nigeria with a cell phone that allegedly belongs to Boko Haram kingpin, Kabiru Abubakar Dikko aka, Kabiru Sokoto.

Sokoto who was first arrested at the Borno State Governor’s lodge in Abuja, escaped from custody while he was being taken to one of his ‘safe houses’ in Abaji, on the outskirts of Abuja. The escape caused a furor, with Commissioner of Police, Zakari Biu being one of those alleged to have aided the escape.

In desperation Ringim presented a Sokoto look alike to Police Affairs minister, Caleb Olubolade. But when the minister questioned the fake Sokoto, the cat was out of the bag.  He was picked up last week at the borders.

According to top security sources, the phone has call logs of high profile politicians who had at sundry times communicated with the alleged Christmas Day bomber. Video recordings of most of Boko Haram attacks are said to be on the phone.

Pointblanknews.com learnt that the phone was seized from Sokoto during his first arrest. The phone was supposed to be used as evidence linking Sokoto to all the Boko Haram attacks.

Said our source “ upon resumption, the new IGP had gone through files on the Boko Haram investigation. He needed to get some clarification from Ringim and visited both Houses in Abuja but was told the former IGP has traveled out of the country for vacation.

According to our source “Before he was relieved of his job, Ringim had set up a committee to investigate the circumstances that led to Sokoto's escape. He made sure the committee was made up of his loyalists. The committee allegedly submitted its report to the new IGP on Friday where they allegedly exonerated Sokoto from membership of Boko Haram and its entire Bomb attacks. The Committee according to sources also exonerated Biu.”

Biu, who last week reportedly said he is innocent of all allegations, is currently being detained at an NIA facility.  He had told the Vanguard   “My life has always been like that – full of controversy.  I am sure that there is nothing that I did to undermine the interest of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, and the nation for the personal benefit of Zakari Biu. At this stage, I don’t want to say anything yet. Government has set up a panel.  Am sure they have submitted their report.  I am due to appear at the Force Disciplinary Committee, FDC, tomorrow (today).  At the appropriate time, you will be the first to hear my story”.

Pointblanknews.com also learnt that Sokoto has made some confessions and has referred severally to his phone that was confiscated by Ringim. Investigators are now in a fix since they don't have access to the phone and the former IGP is currently not in the country and no one can tell where he is currently holidaying.

Efforts last night to speak with police spokesman, Olusola Amore, or his deputy, Yemi Ajayi were unsuccessful.
