GOV FAYEMI ORDERS POLICE TO QUIZ CRITIC OVER ‘OFFENSIVE’ FACEBOOK POSTINGS
A social critic and member of the opposition in Ekiti State, Lere Olayinka was earlier today quizzed by the police in Ado Ekiti sequel to a petition by Governor Kayode Fayemi’s chief of staff, Yemi Adaramodu.
The State government petitioned the police complaining about what they call ‘ Postings of Information that Discredits Fayemi” by Olayinka.
Layinka had used the social media, especially Facebook, to expose some of the excesses and drawbacks of the Ekiti State Government.
Pointblanknews.com learnt Layinka was detained and drilled for about four hours. He was presented with a huge pile of his critical postings on Facebook which Governor Fayemi and his men view as offensive.
According to Layinka “ Today, I was invited by the police on the strength of the petition signed by Yemi Adaramodu, Chief of Staff to Gov Fayemi. The petition was premised on what they called; "Posting of infos that discredit Fayemi.
Highly voluminous print-out of my postings and comments on Facebook were presented to the Police as evidence of my "offensive postings" on the governor and the State govt.
He said further “ Among other things, I was also told that my posting on the increment in UNAD school fees was aimed at inciting the students against the government.
Thanks to the matured and professional way the AC CID handled the matter, I left the Police HQ after about 4hrs of stay. I was not detained.”
Below are few of the critical postings by Layinka on facebook
“ The Govt of Fayemi has not lived up to expectations as a Progressive Govt It claimed to be, Recent Events in Ekiti State have led me to the Conclusion that Gov. Fayemi is trying to be like his ACN Brother Govs, I think Fashola is a bit tolerant of the Opposition, Amosun leads the pack. Let Him Know that History is taking note of his Actions & Inaction”
“ When Fayemi took over govt via d Salamic judgment, his promise was that no student of UNAD (now EKSU) wuld pay more than N50,000. On December 3, 2010; this was published; "In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Ganiyu Owolabi, Fayemi directed that no student of UNAD should be charged more than N50,000 against the N120,000 being paid. Below is UNAD new tuition fees:
Facutly of Engineering - N122,500
Faculty of Law - N112,000
Faculty of Mgt Sc - N102,000
College of Medicine - N191,500
If u are in doubt, check d 2-page advert placed by UNAD Management in d Nigerian Tribune newspaper of yesterday. Is this Fayemi's definition of reduction of school fees? These ProgreTHIEVES shaaa!”
“am sure Fayemi's men will say this is a lie again. After posting here that there was plan for Fayemi's wife, Bisi to be awarded UNAD (EKSU) Honourary Doctorate Degree during d next Convocation of the University, I can now reveal that d idea has been shelved.
In place of Fayemi's wife, Vice President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has been chosen for d award with Osun Dep Gov as another awardee. Fayemi nd his men are still trying to unravel how I got d info with some of them accusing those opposed to d gov's wife getting d honourary doctorate degree of leaking d info to embarrass Fayemi. Keep u posted”.
“On Thursday, last week, I posted here that Gomina Fayemi will travel ABROAD on February 14 to celebrate Valentine. Adekunle Hagler Dada, one of d gov's aides said I was telling lies.
"Why can't you just do something reasonable with your time instead of peddling false rumors," he said. Today, can this Adekunle Dada tell us where Fayemi is now? As I write, Fayemi, four commissioners, two lawmakers and others are in South Africa,
enjoying themselves at d expense of Ekiti pple!”
