{"id":100165,"date":"2022-10-09T17:12:25","date_gmt":"2022-10-09T16:12:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=100165"},"modified":"2022-10-09T17:12:25","modified_gmt":"2022-10-09T16:12:25","slug":"ngige-apc-wants-buhari-to-sanction-ministers-members-opposing-candidacy-of-tinubu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/ngige-apc-wants-buhari-to-sanction-ministers-members-opposing-candidacy-of-tinubu\/","title":{"rendered":"Ngige: APC wants Buhari to sanction ministers,\u00a0 members opposing candidacy of Tinubu"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1746223886823697098\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to caution his ministers and other public holders opposing the candidacy of the party\u2019s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe party made this call in a statement signed by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Murtala Ajaka on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling party warned public office-holders on the platform of the APC to choose between campaigning for Tinubu\u2019s ticket or resigning their appointments from the party-led administration.<\/p>\n<p>Ajaka\u2019s call comes as a reaction to the public display of apathy towards Tinubu\u2019s presidential candidacy by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.<\/p>\n<p>The minister, who spoke in an interview on Channels TV\u2019s Politics Today, had hesitated when asked if he would endorse his party\u2019s candidate or his fellow kinsman and successor, Peter Obi of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nBut, Ngige cleverly said he was no longer active in politics and would fancy his chances by making the choice at the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI\u2019m not active in politics for now because I am facing national assignment,\u201d he said, when asked his preferred candidate between the APC\u2019s Tinubu and the Labour Party\u2019s Peter Obi.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cBoth of them are my friends. My choice will be in the ballot box. It is a secret ballot. I shouldn\u2019t tell Nigerians what I would do secretly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the party image-maker said Ngige\u2019s action was unbecoming of a sitting minister in a government of the ruling party.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe statement partly read, \u201cThe presidential primary election had long ended and the party had settled for the choice of Senator Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, hence, all the party leaders should put their ambitions behind them for now to deliver the party\u2019s presidential ticket.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is expected of a serving minister in an APC government to be a trusted apostle of Tinubu\u2019s presidency in 2023, who along with other party leaders, laboured to ensure the enthronement of the same government in 2015 which they are now serving in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChief Ngige and other APC appointees, especially in the federal cabinet should not forget in a hurry that they are holding onto the party\u2019s mandate, hence, the need to protect it with whatever it requires, but if they can no longer protect the interest of the APC in the public and that of our presidential candidate (Tinubu), I think the honourable thing to do is to step aside from the government formed by the APC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary expressed concerns that such statement coming from one of their ministers could generate bad blood among the APC rank and file.<\/p>\n<p>Ajaka called on the President to call his cabinet members to order and obtain their commitments to deliver the APC in 2023.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to caution his ministers and other public holders opposing the candidacy of the party\u2019s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":89646,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-100165","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
