{"id":100354,"date":"2022-10-15T17:35:14","date_gmt":"2022-10-15T16:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=100354"},"modified":"2022-10-15T17:35:14","modified_gmt":"2022-10-15T16:35:14","slug":"heavy-bombardment-shooting-in-enugu-community-as-troops-raid-ipob-camps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/heavy-bombardment-shooting-in-enugu-community-as-troops-raid-ipob-camps\/","title":{"rendered":"Heavy bombardment, shooting in Enugu community as troops raid IPOB camps"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1746763027488640836\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Akpawfu community in Nkanu East local government of Enugu State has reportedly come under heavy bombardments as land and air troops stormed the community raiding some secret camps of suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and armed bandits in the area.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The raids which, sources said, commenced since Thursday came to a head Saturday morning with military helicopters dropping explosives in forests within Ajeme Akpawfu village where the hoodlums terrorising parts of Nkanu land and Enugu city are believed to be hiding.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It was learnt that the hoodlums also engaged the troops in a shoot-out within the forests but details of the raid could not be ascertained by press time.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The area had been raided sometime ago by a combined team of security Operatives where many of the hoodlums\u00a0 were reportedly neutralized and their camps destroyed, but the area has remained a major source of security threats in the state, it was learnt.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Soldiers had similarly raided Amaeta village,\u00a0 Isingwu hamlet of Imeama village,\u00a0 all in Mgbowo, Awgu LGA on Thursday morning,\u00a0 and had burnt down several houses and arrested two persons.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">An Akpawfu resident who claimed to have fled the community Saturday evening with members of his family, said that he had to relocate temporarily to Enugu for the safety of his family following heavy shootings.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cAs I am speaking with you, people of neighbouring communities of Oruku and Akpugo said they are hearing deafening sounds of explosives and sporadic gunshots and so many people have relocated to these communities for fear of being cut down in the operation. In fact, Akpawfu is not safe right now.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe entire Ajeme Akawfu community has been under fire since Thursday and everybody has been running helter-skelter for safety. Truly speaking, there are many hoodlums claiming to be IPOB members and we have been living in fear.
