{"id":101356,"date":"2022-11-15T16:52:30","date_gmt":"2022-11-15T15:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=101356"},"modified":"2022-11-15T16:52:30","modified_gmt":"2022-11-15T15:52:30","slug":"budgit-promotes-participatory-governance-with-tracka-mobile-2-0-app","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/budgit-promotes-participatory-governance-with-tracka-mobile-2-0-app\/","title":{"rendered":"BudgIT Promotes Participatory Governance With Tracka Mobile 2.0 App"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1749573581397709689\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div><\/div>\n<div>BudgIT Foundation, a civic-tech organisation leading the advocacy for fiscal transparency and accountability in Nigeria, has launched a Tracka Mobile 2.0 application to promote participatory governance.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Mr Henry Omokhaye, Project Manager, BudgIT Foundation, said during the launch of the application in Abuja, said it would aid participatory governance at the subnational level.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0Tracka Mobile 2.0 application was developed under the Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) project with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Omokhaye said with the application, citizens could view all federal projects in a state in a particular year; search and report specific projects in their communities, and view monthly federal allocations to their local government areas.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>According to him, citizens\u2019 participation in governance and public finance is crucial to ensuring fiscal transparency and effective service delivery.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Omokhaye said the application would provide simplified data on federal allocations to the three tiers of government.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said it would also provide data for ongoing public projects across the 36 states of the federation and aid needs assessment exercises for elected representatives to optimise project nomination and implementation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cTracka Mobile 2.0 will strengthen the advocacy capacity of CSOs, citizens and pressure groups to engage public institutions and demand improved and sustainable service delivery.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cLikewise, it will provide research and policy analysts with a repository of data they can leverage on for policy documents,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He added that the mobile application would ensure that allocated public funds for projects nominated by political office holders at all levels of government were effectively disbursed for the good of the people.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe platform will allow citizens to nominate and monitor projects for implementation in their various communities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThis will check the culture of non-inclusion of the citizens in the projects nomination process that has led to an increased number of abandoned projects across Nigeria,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Omokhaye said BudgIT would engage public institutions and politicians to adopt the mobile application to close the gap between the citizens and their elected officials for improved and sustainable service delivery.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cTracka Mobile 2.0 is available for download on Google Playstore and coming to iOS soon,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Ms Lydia Odeh, Chief of Party, Palladium, said the application was long overdue and the launch timely.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>She said it would enable Nigerians to be at the centre of governance: \u201cIt is tool that will bring governance closer to the people.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Odeh looked forward to Nigerians using the tracka to engage the government and also participate in governance.<\/p>\n<div id=\"m_-7986811007509599394ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BudgIT Foundation, a civic-tech organisation leading the advocacy for fiscal transparency and accountability in Nigeria, has launched a Tracka Mobile 2.0 application to promote participatory governance.
