The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has carpeted Chief Kingsley Megwara, the spokesman of the party\u2019s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the state, over his claims that Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, may lose his senatorial bid if he fails to distance himself from the G5 PDP Governors led by his Rivers State counterpart, Barr. Nyesom Wike.<\/div>\n

Megwara, had in an interview, warned that Ikpeazu who is the PDP candidate for the Abia South senatorial zone, risks losing the senate contest if he continues to associate with the G5 PDP Governors<\/p>\n

However, the state chapter of the party, in a statement signed by the Acting publicity secretary, Mr. Amah Abraham, stated that Megwara\u2019s outburst against the Governor has exposed him as one who does not understand the undercurrents that drive the new Nigerian politics.<\/p>\n

The party explained that the position of the Abia State Governor and his colleague-Governors in the G5\u00a0PDP Governors is clearly based on equity, justice and fair play and accused the PDP chieftain of chasing clout with the Governor\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

It also stated that there is no record in the PDP books where Megwara was appointed as a spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign organization in the State and accused the party chieftain of seeking to use the PDP presidential campaign organization to revive his political career.<\/p>\n

The party said; \u201cThe position of the Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and those of his colleague-governors in the G5\u00a0PDP Governors is very clear and based on equity, justice and fair play. It is wicked and unpatriotic for Kingsley Megwara to take to such a futile journey of advising Dr. Ikpeazu to distance himself from a group that seeks to protect the interest of the\u00a0Southern Nigeria and Igbo nation in particular.\u00a0Anybody, especially an acclaimed spokesperson of the PDP presidential candidate who does not know the dire consequences of an un-reconciled Atiku Abubakar with the G5 governors before the 2023 general election is truly not worth his salt and should seek a better level of political education to understand Nigeria, its people and politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf his loquaciousness is a gambit to include himself into the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation by excluding those that have staunchly laboured and supported the presidential candidate of the PDP, then he should have a rethink because it will not work.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt came to us as a rude shock that Kingsley Megwara who has not for once either in writing, interview or any other medium lent his voice as an Abian, South Easterner or Southern Nigeria to galvanize support for the presidential candidate of the PDP could rudely introduce himself into the Atiku Abubakar presidential arena as a spokesperson by talking about a non-related issue as the chances of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu\u2019s senatorial bid. What a bad way to make a wrong first impression.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is known to Abians that the Abia PDP has always supported the ambition of the presidential candidate of the PDP through various means. Just a fortnight ago, the Abia PDP gubernatorial candidate Prof. Uche Ikonne at the instance of the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu led the top echelon of the Abia PDP on a solidarity visit to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Abuja and the purported spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar in Abia State, Kingsley Megara was not among the delegation. So much of a spokesperson. It is amazing that a man of Megwara\u2019s standing in politics will not understand at this moment that it is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who needs the endorsement of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to win Abia and not the other way round as he ignorantly opined.\u201d<\/p>\n

The party added that Ikpeazu is on ground in the state as well as the Abia South senatorial district, stressing that Megwara and his likes cannot stop the Governor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
