{"id":101983,"date":"2022-12-16T08:01:19","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T07:01:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=101983"},"modified":"2022-12-16T08:01:19","modified_gmt":"2022-12-16T07:01:19","slug":"2023-inec-warns-politicians-against-unguided-utterances-hate-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/2023-inec-warns-politicians-against-unguided-utterances-hate-speech\/","title":{"rendered":"2023: INEC Warns Politicians Against Unguided Utterances, Hate Speech"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advocated an issue based campaign among political parties, which is devoid of hate speech and violence that may mar the peaceful coexistence in Kano state.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kano, Ambassador Zango Abdu stated this during a stakeholders meeting on PVC collection and other related matters held in the state.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said Kano as one of the political hubs in the country is expected to lead by example, which prompted the meeting and set the tune for others to ensure free, fair and credible elections.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>According to him, \u201cConsidering the fact that Kano is one of the leading states where politics is heating up, the commission is calling on all political parties to focus on issue-based campaign devoid of violence, abusive, intemperate, and slanderous language that could likely lead to breakdown of law and order.\u2019\u2019<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He added that the commission at the state level has received the PVCs printed for the newly registered as well as transfer and corrections for those who have participated during the last CVR, stressing that the distribution of permanent voters\u2019 cards at the LGA offices in Kano have since commenced.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Ambassador Zango Abdu noted that the police command in Kano had arrested one person in possession of voters card from Gabasawa Local Government Area.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe person was arrested with voters card totaling 367, and were said to belong to voters from Yautar registration Area, the matter was investigated by the police and the culprit was arraigned before a court of law where judgment was delivered.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>While warning the public to avoid committing electoral offences, the REC maintained that the commission had since collected back the cards from police custody and were being redistributed to the rightful owners,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In a remark the Kano commissioner of police Mamman Dauda represented by ACP Daniel Amah reassured of the commitment of security agencies in ensuring a hitch-free elections come 2023.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Also speaking, the commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Adamu Idris Zakari assured that they will be apolitical and ensure that the election is conducted free of violence.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The meeting was graced by heads of security agencies, political parties, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other stakeholders<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advocated an issue based campaign among political parties, which is devoid of hate speech and violence that may mar the peaceful coexistence in&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":99107,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-101983","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
