Eight persons\u00a0 have lost their lives while seven were injured as a bus crashed into a truck near Umuikaa junction along the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.<\/div>\n

Eyewitnesses told Pointblanknews.com that\u00a0 accident involving\u00a0 the bus, with the inscription, \u2018Egbon Motors\u2019 had rammed into a stationary truck leaving eight passengers dead on the spot.<\/div>\n

The truck was said to have broken down in the middle of the expressway, but there were no signs to warn motorists of the situation.<\/div>\n

\u201cThe truck broke down in the middle of the expressway and there was no visible sign to warn motorists. It is like the driver mistook it for a moving truck and crashed into it,\u201d an eyewitness said.<\/div>\n

The victims were soaked with blood as men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and sympathizers struggled to separate the dead victims from those that were still breathing.<\/div>\n

\u00a0Abia State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Mr Paul Ugwu, who gave details of the casualty figure, said 15 persons were involved, 12 male adults and three female adults.<\/div>\n

He confirmed that eight passengers died at the spot and had been deposited at a mortuary in the area while the injured were taken to the hospital.<\/div>\n
