{"id":102835,"date":"2023-01-30T18:11:24","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T17:11:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=102835"},"modified":"2023-01-30T18:11:24","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T17:11:24","slug":"election-southern-kaduna-christians-muslims-sign-peace-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/election-southern-kaduna-christians-muslims-sign-peace-pact\/","title":{"rendered":"Election: Southern Kaduna Christians, Muslims sign peace pact"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association says it has signed a pact with the Council of Imams and Ulama to promote peace in the region ahead of the 2023 general election.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement signed on Monday by the Chairman, Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders, Apostle Emmanuel Kure, and Chief Imam Dr. Muhammad Kassim, the pact was agreed to encourage Muslims and Christians in the region to shun violence, embrace dialogue and remain committed to the pact before, during and after the 2023 general election.<\/p>\n<p>The two organisations explained that the religious leaders signed the Memorandum of Understanding as a mark of their commitment towards sustaining peaceful coexistence for the progress of the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStakeholders of both Christians and Muslims are committed to the promotion of peaceful co-existence among communities in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two religious groups with their members have collectively and individually agreed to ensure that the 2023 general election is violence-free, noting that even if crisis erupts in other places, they\u2019ll jointly ensure that it does not consume the region and their members are not involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), therefore, articulates the participants shared objectives in support of a crisis-free 2023 in the general election in Southern Kaduna, and their respective undertakings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who attempts to aid outsiders to create or start a crisis, we will jointly release our members to protect the land from both external and internal troubles before, during and after the 2023 general election,\u201d the group stated.<\/p>\n<p>Adding, \u201cThe MOU was also to establish a basis for ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the participants, so that future interventions and areas of mutual interest may be brought under this framework.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"adL\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association says it has signed a pact with the Council of Imams and Ulama to promote peace in the region ahead of the 2023 general&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":102836,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-102835","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
