{"id":103374,"date":"2023-02-28T23:21:59","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T22:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=103374"},"modified":"2023-02-28T23:21:59","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T22:21:59","slug":"reps-majority-leader-doguwa-arrested-at-kano-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/reps-majority-leader-doguwa-arrested-at-kano-airport\/","title":{"rendered":"Reps Majority Leader, Doguwa arrested at Kano airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa has been arrested by the police for his alleged role in the killing of some persons and burning of the secretariat of New Nigeria People\u2019s Party (NNPP) during the just concluded polls.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Police had confirmed that no fewer than three persons were killed when the campaign secretariat of the NNPP in Tudunwada was set ablaze by suspected hoodlums.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Two persons were burnt to death during the crisis that erupted during the collation of the results of the Doguwa\/Tudunwada House of Representatives poll, which Doguwa was eventually declared to have won.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">A source told newsmen Tuesday that Doguwa was picked up at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport while about to board a flight to Abuja.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It was alleged that Doguwa influenced the thugs to set ablaze the NNPP secretariat where at least two persons were burnt to death.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cHe also used the pistol of his orderly and fired and several persons. So we have arrested him in connection to murder and arson.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cHe is currently cooling off in the state Criminal Investigation Department,\u201d the source, who pleaded anonymity disclosed.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, did not respond to call to his number on the arrest.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Earlier, Doguwa had in a press conference before his arrest denied any culpability and said he learnt that police were looking for him but he had not received any formal invitation.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He also denied allegations that he shot at several individuals in the fracas that broke out, saying he does not own a gun neither does he know how to fire one.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cI never held a gun. I don\u2019t even know how to hold a gun.
