{"id":103744,"date":"2023-03-20T12:13:41","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T11:13:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=103744"},"modified":"2023-03-20T12:13:41","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T11:13:41","slug":"inec-rules-out-repeat-poll-where-thugs-disrupted-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/inec-rules-out-repeat-poll-where-thugs-disrupted-process\/","title":{"rendered":"INEC rules out repeat poll where thugs disrupted process"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has foreclosed supplementary elections in areas where thugs disrupted the process and destroyed electoral materials.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Commission has also said that it has started releasing accreditation data contained in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) from the Presidential and National Assembly elections to political parties and other Nigerians who may be interested in them.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According the electoral umpire, the accreditation data had been stored in the Commission\u2019s back end before the BVAS machines were reconfigured for last Saturday\u2019s governorship election.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Chairman of the agency\u2019s Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, a National Commissioner, told reporters in Abuja that one of its staff was killed during the governorship elections.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okoye, who, however, did not give details, said a number of other INEC personnel were either abducted, harassed or being intimidated.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said: \u201cBy the provisions of the Constitution, the Electoral Act and our rules and guidelines, there are various steps to be taken when certain things did not work right.<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has foreclosed supplementary elections in areas where thugs disrupted the process and destroyed electoral materials.
