The Nigerian Communications Commission\u2019s (NCC) has denied an allegation that it was involved in tracking and leaking of telephone conversations.<\/p>\n

Although, the NCC did not mention the name of anybody in the Statement, Pointblanknews.com reports that the Commission\u2019s riposte might not be unconnected with reports in which some persons insinuated it (commission) is into the tracking and leakage of the conversation between the Founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop Oyedepo and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi.<\/p>\n

The press statement signed by the Commission\u2019s Director of Public Affairs Reuben Muoka, reads: \u201cThe Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been inundated with enquiries by the media on allegations of telephone \u201ctracking\u201d and \u201cleakage\u201d made against the Commission by some individuals and groups in the social and alternative Media.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Commission wishes to make the following clarifications:<\/p>\n

\u201cI. The Commission denies the allegations in their entirety.<\/p>\n

\u201cII. By the provisions of the Nigerian Communication Act (NCA) 2003 and other extant Laws of the Federation, the Commission does not and cannot \u201ctrack\u201d nor \u201cleak\u201d telephone conversations of anyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cIII . The Commission has reported the allegations, which we take seriously, to relevant security agencies for proper investigation and necessary action.<\/p>\n

\u201cIV. The Commission restates its commitment to discharge its responsibilities to the Nigerian people in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; the NCA 2003; and other extant Laws of the Federation; and global best practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt, the Commission denies these allegations and advises the public to disregard them.\u201d<\/p>\n
