{"id":104868,"date":"2023-05-18T04:02:06","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T03:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=104868"},"modified":"2023-05-18T04:02:06","modified_gmt":"2023-05-18T03:02:06","slug":"drama-as-the-two-factions-of-labour-party-fight-at-presidential-tribunal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/drama-as-the-two-factions-of-labour-party-fight-at-presidential-tribunal\/","title":{"rendered":"Drama As The Two Factions Of Labour Party Fight At Presidential Tribunal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1766175206072450322\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A mild drama took place at the resumed hearing of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting on Wednesday just as the doors to the court room was opened for lawyers and others to access the courtroom.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe drama was between the two camps of the Labour Party (LP) on which group should be in court.<\/p>\n<p>The justices arrived to commence the day\u2019s proceedings and also refused to acknowledge the representation of the party aside the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi, who is present in court.<\/p>\n<p>The Tribunal refused to take an appearance for the LP as acting National Chairman of the party, Lamidi Apapa, as well as the National Women\u2019s Leader of the party, Dudu Manugu, tried to make an appearance for Labour Party when the petition was called.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Haruna Tsamani noted that if two persons are making an appearance for the party, they will not be put on record.Apapa had attempted to occupy the seat reserved for the Abure but was resisted.<\/p>\n<p>At the resumed hearing, counsel for Labour Party, Livy Uzoukwu informed the court that the scheduled meeting to agree on documents to be tendered for hearing hasn\u2019t yielded much results as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has only made available 30% of the documents required from them.<\/p>\n<p>He added that this is contrary to commitment by the INEC Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu, that all documents required shall be made available.<\/p>\n<p>He further added that the party is yet to get documents with respect to Rivers State where he said the Resident Electoral Commissioner said there are no forms EC8A available to be given but is yet to put that in writing despite request to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel for INEC, Abubakar Mahmoud, however, said he is taken aback by the allegations of the counsel for the Labour party as they they did not show up for the meeting as agreed, and walked out of the rescheduled meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Abubakar added that the documents for Rivers and Sokoto states, where indeed provided, but the Labour Party refused to pay the sum of 1.5million naira for Sokoto State, and the Form EC8A for Rivers State, have not been given to them.<\/p>\n<p>He added that some documents were given to the party, but refused to collect it until it was complete.<\/p>\n<p>He assured the court that they were doing everything possible to assist the court in an open manner.He added that they are ready to pay any amount of money for a document.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A mild drama took place at the resumed hearing of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting on Wednesday just as the doors to the court room was opened for lawyers&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":104869,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-104868","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
