The Labour Party has described a video being broadcast by renegade former members of our Party led by Lamidi Apapa where they claimed that its National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure was arrested as fake.<\/p>\n
The party also called on its members and the Nigerian public to disregard such a rumour as its National Chairman is not in any detention.<\/p>\n
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party said, “The 10 second video published by the former Youth Leader of the party, Anselem Eragbe contains images of Police officers who were arguing among themselves over an unexplained matter. Neither Abure nor any of our leaders appeared on the video.<\/p>\n
“The security agencies are not after Abure and have no reason whatsoever to seek for his arrest. If they need his attention, they will invite him personally or even through his several security details.<\/p>\n
“For the record, Abure attended the court session today at the ongoing Presidential Appeal Tribunal and he is presently attending to some official engagements.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians must by now know the capacity of the Apapa group to misinform and propagate fake news. We therefore ask Nigerians to disregard yet another attempt by these renegades to smear the character of our distinguished chairman.”<\/p>\n
Earlier,\u00a0 Abure in a 57-second video said, he is fine and free of any kind of restriction rumoured about him.<\/p>\n
The Labour Party Leader said, \u201cI was travelling, I have to come out of my vehicle to do this short video, to say that, it is a rumour and all members of the Labour Party and the public should disregard this rumour.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis our political detractors thrive in falsehood, they thrive in lies. We urge all our supporters to ignore this.<\/p>\n
