{"id":105518,"date":"2023-06-19T15:13:32","date_gmt":"2023-06-19T14:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=105518"},"modified":"2023-06-19T15:13:32","modified_gmt":"2023-06-19T14:13:32","slug":"i-never-favoured-any-party-justice-bulkachuwa-breaks-silence-on-husbands-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/i-never-favoured-any-party-justice-bulkachuwa-breaks-silence-on-husbands-claim\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I never favoured any party\u2019 \u2014 Justice Bulkachuwa breaks silence on husband\u2019s claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Zainab Bulkachuwa, former president of the court of appeal, says she never compromised her office on partisan grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Bulkachuwa was reacting to recent comments by Adamu Bulkachuwa, her husband.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking at the 9th senate valedictory session on June 10, Bulkachuwa said he often encroached on his wife\u2019s space while she was in office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd she has been very tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended her help to my colleagues,\u201d the former senator said.<\/p>\n<p>Bulkachuwa\u2019s comments sparked outrage, with many Nigerians calling for investigations into his claim.<\/p>\n<p>But speaking with BBC Hausa, the former senator retracted his statement, saying Ahmad Lawan, the then senate president, did not allow him to finish his thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>He said the help he spoke about was not in a negative sense.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued on Sunday, the retired judge\u00a0said she never compromised her oath of office in 40 years in service.<\/p>\n<p>She said her decisions were always premised on facts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy attention has been drawn to the trending video of what was said by my husband Senator Adamu M. Bulkachuwa,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to state categorically that I never at any time compromised my oath of office to favour any party who appeared before me throughout my judicial career spanning 40 years of service to my country.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cMy decisions were always based on the facts, the law and in accordance with my conscience and oath of office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added that former \u201cjustices of the court can attest to the fact that I never interfered with the independence of any of the justices of the court in the discharge of their judicial functions\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"adL\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zainab Bulkachuwa, former president of the court of appeal, says she never compromised her office on partisan grounds.
