The Emir of northern city of Kano, Alhaji Ado Abdullahi Bayero has declared that it is only prayer and patriotism that can end the building insecurity in the country caused hugely by the Boko Haram insurgency.<\/p>\n
The Kano monarch stated this in his Palace while receiving Vice President Namadi Sambo who brought condolence message to the Emir, government and people of Kano state over the January 19 attack on Ado Bayero\u2019s convoy.<\/p>\n
Bayero, a victim of terrorist attack during which he lost his private driver, four guards and two other subjects said prayers, fasting and patriotism can only bring an end to the current security challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n
Emir Ado Bayero travelled to London on January 20, a day after a devastating attack on his convoy within Kano city.<\/p>\n
The Emir\u2019s convoy was ambushed and cruelly attacked immediately after returning from a religious programme at Massalacin Murtala on 19 January.<\/p>\n
Bayero urged Nigerians to remain patriotic and positive, adding that with prayers and fasting, the country will soon conquer the problem of insecurity.<\/p>\n
He noted that insecurity is not peculiar to the country alone, pointing out that with decisive action from all and sundry, the nation will surely surmount it.<\/p>\n
The respected northern monarch, however, called on Nigerians to be steadfast and seek peace at all times, noting that with prayers and patriotic spirit, the country will surely overcome the trying period.<\/p>\n
Bayero, however, stated that the attack on his convoy by gun men suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, coupled with what is happening in the country currently was an art of God, adding that the only solution was for Nigerians to embrace God and be more concerned to the peaceful co-existence and development of the country.<\/p>\n
The Emir, however, showed his appreciation to Nigerians, political leaders within and outside Africa who showed concern while he was away in London, adding that their prayers contributed immensely to his quick recovery.<\/p>\n
Namadi Sambo said he was in Kano with a delegation from the Presidency to commiserate with the Kano Emirate Council, government and the people of Kano state over the January 19 attack on the Emir\u2019s convoy.<\/p>\n
He extended the greetings of President Goodluck Jonathan to the Kano Royal Father, pointing out that the Presidency remains grateful to Allah for saving the life of the Emir.
\nSambo described the incident as unfortunate, adding that the Federal<\/p>\n
Government is doing all it could to ensure that peace and stability returns in the North and the country in general.<\/p>\n
