Few hours after Vice President Namadi Sambo left the Nigeria’s northern city of Kano, terrorists suspected to be members of the Islamic Boko Haram sect struck at Dakata, Hotoro and Sharada axis of the volatile city, killing three and injuring many.<\/p>\n
Residents of the areas confirmed to Pointblanknews.com that several gun shots were heard as people ran helter-skelter for dear lives.<\/p>\n
Namadi Sambo was in Kano to condole with Emir Ado Bayero over January 19 attack on his convoy inside the city, which claimed about seven lives and injured many.<\/p>\n
Bayero had urged Nigerians to pray fervently over security challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n
The Monarch also called for patriotism and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians irrespective of religious and ethnic affiliations.<\/p>\n
Though officials say they had sketchy idea of the incident, spokesman of the Joint military Task Force (JTF), Captain Ikedichi Iweha confirmed the incident, saying security forces have already responded.
\nFour of the gun men are in the custody of JTF as at the time of filing this report, while several raids are being carried out by security forces.<\/p>\n
The gun men came on tricycles at about the same time and launched attacks in the areas known as flashpoints, residents confirmed.<\/p>\n
