President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is allegedly using the Department of State Services (DSS) to intimidate the judges of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) to pass a unanimous decision in his favour in the petitions brought by the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party challenging his victory in the 2023 presidential election.<\/p>\n
A reliable source told our correspondent in confidence that Tinubu is hopeful that the secret police will pressurize the Justices in the election petition tribunal to deliver judgment in his favour.<\/p>\n
Findings by our correspondent showed that after an emergency meeting by the President’s camp to weigh its options in the event of a likely rerun, a former governor, whose name is part of the ministerial list from the southern part of the country; submitted recently to the Senate, maintained that a re-run is not a good option for owing to the state of affairs in the country.<\/p>\n
The camp of the President is said to be enjoying the support of three out zof the four Justices on the panel.<\/p>\n
They initially boasted of a 3-2 lead against the LP\/ PDP in the tribunal but believe that their antics are working since they celebrated the coming on board of an additional judge, who they believe had succumbed to their pressure and joined the fray.<\/p>\n
However, another source within the DSS, who is not authorized to speak for the agency said that part of the strategy of the Tinubu camp is to compel the justices to submit their judgements to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, for final vetting before delivery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
