{"id":107568,"date":"2023-09-05T20:41:28","date_gmt":"2023-09-05T19:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=107568"},"modified":"2023-09-05T20:41:28","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T19:41:28","slug":"labour-party-decries-justice-odilis-comments-on-the-presidential-election-petition-calls-for-calm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/labour-party-decries-justice-odilis-comments-on-the-presidential-election-petition-calls-for-calm\/","title":{"rendered":"Labour Party decries Justice Odili&#8217;s comments on the presidential election petition, calls for calm"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The labour party has called on Nigerians to remain calm and peaceful as they await the judgement on the presidential election taking place on Wednesday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a statement by the national publicity secretary Obiora Ifoh,\u00a0 the labour party also reacted to comment from the former justice of the supreme court, justice Mary Odili about the presidential election petition.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said, &#8220;It has become necessary for the Labour Party to draw the attention of the public and indeed democratic watchers to some unfolding developments in the country ahead of tomorrow\u2019s ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;The unguarded statement from the former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Justice Mary Odili in Abuja last week at a colloquium to mark the 25th anniversary of the elevation of a renowned jurist, JK Gadzama to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and the boasting of some persons, serving Ministers and notable legislators about the outcome has left our party in shock.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said When those who should know the importance of the sanctity of the judiciary descend to the arena of abusing it with their preemptive utterances just to show loyalty and support to their interests.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The labour party\u00a0 described the comment of justice Mary Odili as unfortunate and dangerous to the democratic journey as a nation.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;We note also the needless lavish showering of praises on the legal counsels of both APC and Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the retired Justice when the gathering was not theirs.
