{"id":107604,"date":"2023-09-07T13:30:32","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T12:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=107604"},"modified":"2023-09-07T13:30:32","modified_gmt":"2023-09-07T12:30:32","slug":"atiku-am-heading-to-supreme-court-says-i-got-judgement-not-justice-from-presidential-election-tribunal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/atiku-am-heading-to-supreme-court-says-i-got-judgement-not-justice-from-presidential-election-tribunal\/","title":{"rendered":"Atiku: Am Heading To Supreme Court, Says I Got Judgement, Not Justice From Presidential Election Tribunal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25, 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to approach the Supreme Court to set aside the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku said he is dissatisfied with the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) that affirmed President Tinubu as the valid winner of the presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP Presidential candidate, who spoke through his team of lawyers led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, lamented that he only got a judgement from the court and not justice.<\/p>\n<p>According to him: \u201cJudgement has just been delivered but we have not received justice. Luckily, the Constitution has given us the right to go on appeal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the court of first instance. We still have the right to go on appeal to the Supreme Court and you see, this is a struggle that is not just for our client, but for the Constitution of this country, for the rule of law and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were expecting an outcome that will improve, encourage the use of technology to enhance election management, to enhance transparency, to enhance accountability, so that Nigerians will believe in democracy.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cSo that Nigerians can come out in their masses like they did, to vote. We don\u2019t want Nigerians to be discouraged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are certain things and principle of law that he know that we need to explore and we strongly believe that when we get to the Supreme Court, it will have the opportunity to review a number of things that have been said here today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the instruction of our client to go to the Supreme Court. So, we have asked for the records. We have asked for the judgement.
