{"id":108551,"date":"2023-10-12T15:03:07","date_gmt":"2023-10-12T14:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=108551"},"modified":"2023-10-12T15:03:07","modified_gmt":"2023-10-12T14:03:07","slug":"breaking-tinubu-appoints-olukoyede-as-efcc-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/breaking-tinubu-appoints-olukoyede-as-efcc-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Tinubu appoints Olukoyede as EFCC Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"I_ZkbNhI D_FY W_6D6F\" data-test-id=\"message-view-body\">\n<div class=\"msg-body P_wpofO mq_AS\" data-test-id=\"message-view-body-content\">\n<div class=\"jb_0 X_6MGW N_6Fd5\">\n<div id=\"yiv6356255964\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Ola Olukoyede as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a renewable term of four years pending Senate\u2019s confirmation<\/p>\n<p>A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, further said that President Tinubu also appointed Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda as Secretary of the Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Olukoyede\u2019s appointment follows the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cBy the powers vested in President Bola Tinubu as established in section 2 (3) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004, that \u201cthe Chairman and members of the Commission, other than ex-officio members, shall be appointed by the President,\u201d President Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede to serve as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a renewable term of four years in the first instance, pending Senate confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Ola Olukoyede is a lawyer with over twenty-two (22) years of experience as a regulatory compliance consultant and specialist in fraud management and corporate intelligence. He has extensive experience in the operations of the EFCC, having previously served as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman (2016-2018) and Secretary to the Commission (2018-2023). As such, he fulfills the statutory requirement for appointment as Chairman of the EFCC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurthermore, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda to serve as the Secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a renewable term of five years in the first instance, pending Senate confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda is a public administrator with extensive experience in public finance management who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Masters in Business Administration from the same university. He began his career as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi.
