Sim Fubara of Rivers state has alleged that there was a failed assassination attempt on his life.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said on Monday that he was shot at by a police team loyal to those wanting to remove him as governor.<\/p>\n<p>Video clips however showed the governor being teargassed in a crowd of men and youths.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said he heard of an unfortunate explosion in the House of Assembly and was going to inspect the extent of damage only to be shot at and poured water from a hose.<\/p>\n<p>Rumours began Sunday evening that Fubara would be impeached the next day. Soon, the House of Assembly witnessed an explosion which destroyed many parts.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, the members of the House waded through to the Assembly Hall where the Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, announced suspension of the Majority Leader (Edison Ehie) who was found to be reneging on impeaching the governor.<\/p>\n<p>The House suspended two others not loyal to the impeachment group.<\/p>\n<p>Next, the Speaker announced impeachment notice to the governor, saying he was not able to lead and that the House was not allowed to carry out its constitutional duties.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the streets of PH have been taken over by youths for and against the impeachment.<\/p>\n<p>The most prominent, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), has moved into the state capital.
