A Nigerian, David Olubunmi Abodunde, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his wife, Taiwo Owoeye Abodunde, at Newmarket, Suffolk, the United Kingdom (UK).<\/p>\n
It was gathered that Taiwo, a nurse and mother of three, was killed after a marital discord and domestic turbulence with his husband.<\/p>\n
The Suffolk Police in England were said to have responded to a call at 259 Exning Road, Newmarket, Suffolk, and discovered the lifeless body of Taiwo lying on the floor of her living room on November 28, 2023.<\/p>\n
According to the police, the visit to the residence was scheduled as \u201ca pre-arranged meeting to gather evidence in relation to the assault allegations made against Olubunni Abodunde on November 27 by Taiwo, which led to his arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n
The police stated that they arrived at Taiwo\u2019s home address at 9:55 a.m. on November 28, noting that upon entering the residence, they discovered her unresponsive on the living room floor.<\/p>\n
The police said despite prompt medical attention, paramedics declared Taiwo dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Olubunmi, the husband, was however found inside the residence and subsequently arrested on suspicion of her murder.<\/p>\n
The Nigerian was then taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and later appeared at Ipswich Crown Court and Suffolk Magistrates\u2019 Court for a preliminary hearing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can confirm we have received a referral from Suffolk Constabulary in relation to this incident and we are carrying out an assessment to determine what further action may be required from us,\u201d TheNation quoted the spokesperson for the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as saying.<\/p>\n
It was further gathered that the intervention of the IOPC was prompted by a suspicious failure by the police over a previous correspondence with Taiwo\u2019s family on November 27 over a previous assault.<\/p>\n
The police added: \u201cOn Monday 27th November 2023, Taiwo contacted Suffolk Police reporting an assault by Olubunmi on her that day and a further assault from 15th August 2023. Olubunmi was arrested on suspicion of both assaults at 10:23 a.m. 27\/11\/2023.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was released from police custody at 6:20 p.m. 27\/11\/2023 with police bail conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe police bail conditions imposed were: Not to go to 239 Exning Road, Newmarket, CB9 0AY. Not to contact Taiwo Abodunde directly or indirectly except via a third party to arrange child contact.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe incorrect address of 239 Exning Road, Newmarket on the bail condition should have been recorded as 259 Exning Road, Newmarket.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen Suffolk Police attended Taiwo\u2019s address on Tuesday 28th November, this was for a pre-arranged meeting to gather evidence in relation to the assault allegations that were made against Olubunmi Abodunde on 27th November which led to his arrest. Because of these recent police contact with Taiwo, Suffolk Constabulary have made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).<\/p>\n
