Gunmen on Wednesday night abducted yet-to-be ascertained number of students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).<\/p>\n
The students were abducted in Gandu community near the university, Mr Abubakar Ibrahim, Head of Information and Public Relations of the institution, said.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201cthe incident happened outside the premises of the university, and for now, we cannot ascertain the numbers of students abducted, their names or departments.\u201d<\/p>\n
Also, DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, said for now, the information about the kidnapping incident was still sketchy.<\/p>\n
The PPRO added that the command had unsuccessfully tried to get facts and the identities of the victims.<\/p>\n
Nansel, however, explained that DCP Shettima Muhammed, Acting Commissioner of Police in the state, had deployed adequate security patrol around the university to maintain law and order and to protect the area.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the students of the institution on Thursday embarked on a peaceful protest over the persistent spate of kidnapping around the school.<\/p>\n
The protesting students obstructed free flow of traffic in Lafia\/Makurdi road for many hours and it took the intervention of security agencies to bring the situation under control.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
