{"id":110114,"date":"2024-01-14T03:52:22","date_gmt":"2024-01-14T02:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=110114"},"modified":"2024-01-14T03:52:22","modified_gmt":"2024-01-14T02:52:22","slug":"just-in-tinubu-sets-up-panel-to-audit-social-investment-programmes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/just-in-tinubu-sets-up-panel-to-audit-social-investment-programmes\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: Tinubu sets up panel to audit social investment programmes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1788006095918717111\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Bola Tinubu on Saturday approved the establishment of a Special Presidential Panel saddled with the responsibility of undertaking a comprehensive review and reform of the social investment programmes suspended last month.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe panel will be led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun.<\/p>\n<p>The SPP comes 24 hours after Tinubu suspended all administered Social Investment Programmes by the National Social Investment Programme Agency which also includes the school-feeding programme.<\/p>\n<p>A statement signed on Friday by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, said the suspension was in view of the \u201congoing investigation of alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programmes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sequel to the six-week suspension of the four programmes, Tinubu tasked the Edun-led panel to \u201cimmediately undertake a comprehensive review and audit of existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programmes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is is according to a statement signed by the President\u2019s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, titled \u2018President Tinubu establishes special presidential panel on social investment programmes.\u2019<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nNgelale said the goal is to implement \u201ca total re-engineering of the financial architecture of the programmes with detailed modification to procedures guiding the programmes\u2019 implementation moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The SPP, which is comprised of ministers representing strategic sectors and will ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to the reform effort, is made up of the coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance as Chairman, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate as Member.<\/p>\n<p>Other members are the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris; Minister of Communicatons, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijjani; and the Minister of State for Youth, Ayodele Olawande.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu anticipates that the anel will \u201cvalidate the confidence reposed in it by winning back all lost public confidence in these vital programmes over the years by ushering in a new era of operation based on open and accountable governance frameworks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said these frameworks will prove \u201cimpervious to abuse and incompetence for the exclusive benefit of disadvantaged households across our nation.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Bola Tinubu on Saturday approved the establishment of a Special Presidential Panel saddled with the responsibility of undertaking a comprehensive review and reform of the social investment programmes suspended&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":110025,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-110114","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
