{"id":110223,"date":"2024-01-19T22:12:17","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T21:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=110223"},"modified":"2024-01-19T22:12:17","modified_gmt":"2024-01-19T21:12:17","slug":"gunmen-kill-two-soldiers-others-in-benue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/gunmen-kill-two-soldiers-others-in-benue\/","title":{"rendered":"Gunmen kill two soldiers, others in Benue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1788537695348963370\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Four people, including two soldiers have been reportedly killed by gunmen who invaded some communities in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State on Friday.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe armed men were said to have attacked some communities in the local government leading to the death of two people.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the villages attacked include Abugbe, Okokolo, Ugboju, Odugbeho and Olegobidu<\/p>\n<p>Two of the soldiers stationed at the council area on peacekeeping were said to have been shot dead when the armed men ambushed them while on patrol of the areas.<\/p>\n<p>Some natives told our correspondent that the attack had started for a few days until it became worse when the armed men moved to Okokolo and attacked the people.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the attacks on Agatu communities, the lawmaker representing the Agatu state constituency in the state House of Assembly, Godwin Edo said two villagers were killed.<\/p>\n<p>Edo said, \u201cYes, the attack was from herdsmen, It happened yesterday, (Thursday).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had casualties, some were injured and we lost some lives. What happened was there were threats of attacks on some villages, Ocholonya and Ugboju K\u2019 Ugbe for the past six days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo those people deserted their place and relocated to Okokolo. So it is in Okokolo that herdsmen came to attack them yesterday, (Thursday). Those are the displaced villages for now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe lost about two people so far.
