{"id":110307,"date":"2024-01-26T14:21:12","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T13:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=110307"},"modified":"2024-01-26T14:21:12","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T13:21:12","slug":"lagos-bishop-jailed-for-life-for-raping-assistant-pastor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/lagos-bishop-jailed-for-life-for-raping-assistant-pastor\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Bishop jailed for life for raping assistant pastor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1789158104373891784\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced a Lagos bishop, Oluwafeyiropo Daniels, to life imprisonment for raping his 23-year-old assistant (name withheld).<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nJustice Rahman Oshodi also sentenced Daniels,\u00a0 the Bishop of I Reign Christian Ministry,\u00a0 Lagos, \u00a0to three years in prison for sexual assaulting a 19-year-old member of the church (count three of the four-count charge).<\/p>\n<p>The judge held that the cleric should spend the rest of his life at the Kirikiri custodial facility, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Oshodi held that prosecution established the ingredients of the two offences.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Daniels is a liar and does not have any regard for truth.<\/p>\n<p>The judge, however, discharged and acquitted him on count two of the charge, which is rape of another member of the church (name withheld).<\/p>\n<p>Oshodi held that there was an element of consent from the church member.<\/p>\n<p>The judge also discharged and acquitted Daniels on count four of the charge, which is attempted rape of a member of the church.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nDaniels faced an amended four-count charge bordering on rape, attempted rape and sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>Rape contravenes Section 260 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced a Lagos bishop, Oluwafeyiropo Daniels, to life imprisonment for raping his 23-year-old assistant (name withheld).
