The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a statement concerning the planned protests by sections of the organized labor scheduled for February 27th and 28th, 2024, over various economic grievances.<\/p>\n

While acknowledging the right of the labor movement to protest, the DSS appeals to them to reconsider their plans in the interest of maintaining peace and public order.<\/p>\n

In a statement the agency Director of PR & Strategic Communications highlighted the potential for unrest and violence during the protests.<\/p>\n

The DSS emphasized the importance of dialogue and negotiation in addressing grievances rather than resorting to actions that could exacerbate tensions.<\/p>\n

The agency is aware of plans by certain elements to exploit the protests for nefarious purposes, which could escalate into widespread violence, worsening the country\u2019s socio-economic situation.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the agency\u2019s stance against violence as a means of addressing challenges and assures collaboration with other security agencies to uphold peace.<\/p>\n

Acknowledging the government\u2019s efforts to address economic challenges, the DSS urged citizens to allow authorities the opportunity to tackle these issues through peaceful means.<\/p>\n

Quoting the renowned poet, JP Clark, the agency underscored the dangers of escalated conflicts and the need to prioritize peace.<\/p>\n

The DSS also called on various sectors of society, including parents, political parties, religious and traditional institutions, civil society, and non-governmental organizations, to refrain from violence and divisive rhetoric.<\/p>\n

It warned against allowing external forces to destabilize the nation and reaffirms its commitment, alongside other security agencies, to maintaining peace and security in the country.<\/p>\n
