{"id":110784,"date":"2024-03-04T18:43:06","date_gmt":"2024-03-04T17:43:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=110784"},"modified":"2024-03-04T18:43:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-04T17:43:06","slug":"irate-edo-youths-beat-2-policemen-to-death-injured-2-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/irate-edo-youths-beat-2-policemen-to-death-injured-2-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Irate Edo youths beat 2 policemen to death, injured 2 others"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1792535672515303183\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two Mobile policemen were on Sunday beaten to death, and two others injured by irate youths at Ikpeshi in Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe sad incident followed another grisly incident involving a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to escort-duty policemen in the convoy of former Edo House of Assembly member, Emmanuel Agbaje, which hit a motorcycle, resulting in the tragic deaths of the rider, a woman, and her child.<\/p>\n<p>Ikpeshi youths, according to sources, besieged the office of Edo State Security Vigilance Network, where the two policemen were taken, thereby overpowering and beating them to death.<\/p>\n<p>However, two other policemen were rescued by the vigilance members, and their rifles were recovered.<\/p>\n<p>The rescued officers are currently undergoing treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Edo.<\/p>\n<p>The four policemen were from Police Mobile Force (PMF) 19, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of Akoko-Edo local government council, Tajudeen Alade, who condemned the activities of the youths, declared that the persons involved would be identified, arrested and prosecuted, to serve as a deterrent to other errant youths.<\/p>\n<p>Edo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chidi Nwabuzor, a Superintendent of Police (SP), also confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two Mobile policemen were on Sunday beaten to death, and two others injured by irate youths at Ikpeshi in Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state.
