{"id":11138,"date":"2013-03-21T20:36:42","date_gmt":"2013-03-21T19:36:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=11138"},"modified":"2013-03-21T20:36:42","modified_gmt":"2013-03-21T19:36:42","slug":"jonathan-appoints-aji-as-new-head-of-civil-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/jonathan-appoints-aji-as-new-head-of-civil-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Jonathan appoints Aji As New Head of Civil Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday announced the appointment of Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.<\/p>\n<p>With this development, Aji who was until his new appointment, the Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, takes over\u00a0 from Alhaji Isa Sali who will attain the mandatory retirement age of 60 on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>While Sali is expected to formally hand over the affairs of the office to his successor on Friday (today), Jonathan will swear in the new HOS on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>He will serve for about 17 months before retiring in August 2014 when he would have put in the maximum 35 years in service. His date of first appointment is August 18, 1979, according to government records available to Daily Trust.<\/p>\n<p>Goni Aji holds a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in History, which he obtained in 1984 from the University of Maiduguri, according to his bio-data on the website of the head of service\u2019s office. He also attended the Borno College of Basic Studies, Maiduguri, 1979-1981, Government College, Maiduguri, 1974-1979, Sabon Gari Primary School, Gashu\u2019a, 1971-1974, and Dapchi Primary School, 1967-1971.<\/p>\n<p>Aji first joined the civil service as a school teacher in Jakusko of present-day Yobe State in 1979, and later served as a lecturer at the College of Education, Gashu\u2019a in 1985-1986. At the Federal level, he served as a director for years before becoming permanent secretary in 2008.
