The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared as null and void the suspension of the party\u2019s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.<\/p>\n
This is just as the Kano APC suspended the ward party leaders, who suspended Ganduje from the party, for six months.<\/p>\n
Ganduje, the immediate past governor of Kano State, was suspended by the APC leaders in his ward in Dawkin Tofa Local Government Area of the state on Monday, April 15, 2024.<\/p>\n
The ward leaders said they decided to suspend Ganduje from the party due to the corruption allegation levelled against him by the Kano State Government.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the development, the APC Chairman in Dawkin Tofa LGA, Inusa Dawanau, said those behind Ganduje\u2019s suspension were caught in anti-party activities, noting that their records of meetings with the opposition were exposed.<\/p>\n
Dawanau said the Kano APC Working Committee adopted the suspension of the ward\u2019s APC leaders.He said: \u201cThey have sanctioned them for six months, and a special investigations panel has been set up to verify several allegations against them.<\/p>\n
\u201cGanduje\u2019s suspension is invalid, null and void, and cannot stand.\u201d<\/p>\n
Also reacting, the Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, said the party had adopted the decisions of the Local Government party leaders and is now investigating the culprits\u2019 anti-party activities.<\/p>\n
Abbas said: \u201cWe have evidence of meetings between the State Government officials and those who suspended the National Chairman, and the State Working Committee has agreed to sanction them for six months.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey will remain suspended until the expiration of the period.\u201d<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that the Kano State High Court fixed April 17, 2024, for the arraignment of Ganduje, his wife, son, and five others for alleged bribery.<\/p>\n
Ganduje and the others will be arraigned on eight counts, including a $413,000 bribery allegation, diversion, and misappropriation of N1.38 billion.<\/p>\n
