The New Nigeria People\u2019s Party (NNPP) has suspended Kano state Governor Abbah Kabir Yusuf for participating in what it described as an \u201cillegal \/ factional national convention\u201d of the party held in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The embattled governor was suspended for six months by the party.<\/p>\n
Yusuf, popularly known as Gida, Gida\u2019s suspension was announced at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday at the party national Secretariat.<\/p>\n
The National Secretary of the party, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, who briefed the Press, also chided former Governor of Kano State Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, expressing regrets that he was being overrated.<\/p>\n
Addressing Journalists, the party\u2019s scribe restated that the decision to suspend the governor was unanimous and was with the approval of the party\u2019s Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n
While reeling out the governor\u2019s many sins, Oginni stated: \u201cNigerians need to know the position of New Nigeria People\u2019s Party following the failure of the governor to appear before the disciplinary committees as directed by the Board of Trustees of NNPP.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe leadership of the NNPP in order to strengthen our internal disciplinary and democratic measures most especially in the area of party supremacy without prejudice is left with no any other options than to decisively take necessary action according to the letters of NNPP Constitution 2022 as amended.\u201d<\/p>\n
The controversial convention that led to the governors suspension it would be recalled took place at A Class Event Center a few days ago.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the party had reportedly set up a disciplinary committee to enable the governor explain the infractions on the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n
Oginni stated further: \u201cIn accordance with Article 39 Sub section 4 of our constitution, a disciplinary committee headed by Barrister Monday Mawah as Chairman and Prince Adetoyese Omokanye as Secretary was set up and Gov Yusuf was expected to appear before it on Monday 15th April 2024 but failed and never gave any reason for his inability to appear.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn accordance with Article 39.0, 39 (1-4) on disciplinary procedures, His Excellency Abah Yusuf was availed with an unfettered opportunities to explore all openings to resolve the issues being investigated as stipulated therein in relation to allegations of gross misconduct brought against him.\u201d<\/p>\n
