{"id":111539,"date":"2024-04-23T16:44:51","date_gmt":"2024-04-23T15:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=111539"},"modified":"2024-04-23T16:44:51","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T15:44:51","slug":"ihedioha-resigns-from-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/ihedioha-resigns-from-pdp\/","title":{"rendered":"Ihedioha resigns from PDP\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n<p>The ex-governor announced his resignation in a letter dated April 23 addressed to the PDP chairman at Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.<\/p>\n<p>Ihedioha, also a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, said the PDP had in recent times taken on a path that disagrees with his beliefs.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nHis letter read, \u201cSince 1998, I have contributed my quota to the development and transformation of the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) as one of the founding members. All these years, I have taken pride in the fact that the PDP is a party that will always look inward for internal reforms and provide credible leadership for the people, whether in power or outside power. I have had the benefit of serving and benefitting from the party at various levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegrettably, in recent times, the party has taken on a path that is at variance with my personal beliefs. Despite my attempts to offer counsel, the party is sadly no longer able to carry out internal reforms, enforce its own rules or offer credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is in the light of the foregoing, that I am compelled to offer my resignation from the People\u2019s Democratic Party effective immediately. While this decision was difficult to take, I, however, believe that it is the right one.
