Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has sworn-in Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 Local Government Councils of the State.<\/p>\n
The swearing-in ceremony was performed at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The inauguration followed the swift screening and approval of the caretaker chairmen by the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.<\/p>\n
Pointblanknews.com had earlier reported that following the expiration of the three-year tenure of elected local government chairmen and councillors in Rivers State on Monday, June 17, Fubara sent a list of nominated caretaker committee chairmen to the House of Assembly this morning.<\/p>\n
The Oko-Jumbo-led Assembly expeditiously ratified the list.<\/p>\n
The new appointees are set to commence their roles immediately, ensuring that governance and development efforts continue seamlessly across the local government areas.<\/p>\n
Fubara tasked the caretaker chairmen on the need to provide effective governance at the grassroots level and expressed confidence in their abilities to drive progress and address local challenges.<\/p>\n
The governor urged the chairmen to work diligently and collaboratively to improve the lives of the residents in their respective local government areas.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Fubara has mandated the Auditor General of the State to begin the audit of the accounts of the 23 Local Government Areas for the past three years.<\/p>\n
While swearing in the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of the Local Government Areas, the Governor said the measure was to serve as a check for the incoming officials.<\/p>\n
