The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), Katsina State, Prof. Armaya\u2019u Bichi, has alleged that some of the university\u2019s staff are serving as informants to bandits.<\/p>\n
Pointblanknews.com reports bandits have been attacking the area, kidnapping students and staffers of the university as well as their family members.<\/p>\n
Exactly a week ago, bandits stormed the residence of Dr Tiri Gyan David, Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development of FUMA, killing him and abducting his children.<\/p>\n
Briefing newsmen on Tuesday, Bichi said the contacts of suspected staff had been given to a security agency for further investigation.<\/p>\n
According to the vice-chancellor, the school management is doing everything possible to prevent the recurrence of such incidents but the situation was getting aggravated.<\/p>\n
Bichi said, \u201cThis issue of informants is worrisome, therefore, we investigated those we are suspecting of giving out their colleagues and students\u2019 information.<\/p>\n
\u201dWe have found them, and handed over their contacts to one of the security agencies for further investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we have not heard anything from the securities. These suspects are our staff. We have strong reasons for accusing them of being informants to bandits,\u201d the vice chancellor revealed.<\/p>\n
Contacted, the Police said they were not aware of such an issue but promised to further investigate the matter.<\/p>\n
