{"id":113185,"date":"2024-07-11T17:54:37","date_gmt":"2024-07-11T16:54:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=113185"},"modified":"2024-07-11T17:54:37","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T16:54:37","slug":"lg-autonomy-lp-welcomes-supreme-court-judgement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/lg-autonomy-lp-welcomes-supreme-court-judgement\/","title":{"rendered":"LG autonomy:\u00a0LP welcomes Supreme Court judgement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1804301937739351123\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Labour Party (LP) has welcomed the Supreme Court decision granting financial autonomy to Local Government Councils in the 36 States of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nNational Publicity Secretary of the LP, Obiora Ifoh, said the Supreme Court judgement has removed a yoke from the necks of local council thus giving them greater freedom to initiate and complete projects which will reduce suffering at the grass roots.<\/p>\n<p>He told Vanguard in a telephone interview yesterday that, councillors now owe their constituents a duty to hold local government chairmen accountable by ensuring prudent management of their resources.<\/p>\n<p>Ifoh said, \u201cIt (judgement) is a welcome development.
