EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde says the commission will make effort to recover some of the looted oil subsidy fund from the UK.<\/p>\n
Lamorde said this on Wednesday in Abuja when Dr Andrew Pocock, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in his office.<\/p>\n
“We will repatriate some of this subsidy fund; we have been able to recover some of the funds through the UK authority.<\/p>\n
“It is in the interest of the commission to see that corruption is wiped out in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
“The UK has been helpful in the area of capacity building in the fight against corruption, we want this support to continue,\u2019\u2019 the EFCC chairman said.<\/p>\n
Lamorde further said that the commission was making arrangement to send six members of its staff for forensic training in the UK.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Pocock said he was at the EFCC office to identify with it and also seek a wider relationship on ways to tackle corruption.<\/p>\n
According to him, corruption has retarded the development of many infrastructures in Nigeria and also impacted negatively on the lives of the people.<\/p>\n
“In the 1980\u2019s, a period of oil boom, issues of infrastructure were very important but because of corruption, cost of infrastructure became three to four times higher, making Nigerians not to have access to them.<\/p>\n
“This same corruption has affected electricity which is supposed to move the economy forward,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
