{"id":114289,"date":"2024-09-16T02:15:26","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T01:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=114289"},"modified":"2024-09-16T02:15:26","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T01:15:26","slug":"nnpc-ltd-says-dangote-lied-over-pricing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/nnpc-ltd-says-dangote-lied-over-pricing\/","title":{"rendered":"NNPC Ltd Says Dangote lied over pricing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1810304838334366117\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Nigerian National Petroleum Limited, NNPC Ltd, has refused to back down on its allegations that Dangote Refinery Petrol is sold to them at N897 per liter.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\nNNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, told Pointblanknews.com that it is in possession of all documents to show that indeed Dangote had lied over the Petrol price they sold to NNPC.<\/p>\n<p>But Dangote Group\u2019s Spokesman, Anthony Chiejina, in his response described NNPC\u2019s claims as \u201cboth misleading and mischievous, deliberately aimed at undermining the milestone achievement recorded today\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However Soneye insisted that \u201cIf the price isn&#8217;t \u20a6898, then what is it? We would be happy to receive a discount. Throughout the day, various figures have been circulating\u2014some claiming \u20a61,300, *Punch* reported around \u20a6767, and another outlet mentioned \u20a6500. It&#8217;s our responsibility to clarify the facts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cthe truth is, the government is not setting fuel prices, nor is NNPC Ltd. It&#8217;s a deregulated market where prices are determined by market forces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dangote\u2019s statement reads in full:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur attention has been drawn to a statement attributed to NNPCL spokesperson, Mr.<br \/>\nOlufemi Soneye, that we sell our PMS at N898 per litre to the NNPCL.<\/p>\n<p>This statement is both misleading and mischievous, deliberately aimed at undermining the milestone achievement recorded today, September 15, 2024, towards addressing energy insufficiency and insecurity, which has bedeviled the economy in the past 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>We urge Nigerians to disregard this malicious statement and await a formal announcement on the pricing, by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, which will commence on October 1, 2024, bearing in mind that our current stock of crude was procured in dollars.<\/p>\n<p>It should also be noted that we sold the products to NNPC in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing. With this action, there will be petrol in every local government area of the country regardless of their remote nature.<\/p>\n<p>We assure Nigerians of availability of quality petroleum product and putting an end to the endemic fuel scarcity in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, trouble started shortly after Dangote Refinery started loading petrol on Sunday.
