{"id":114326,"date":"2024-09-19T18:56:21","date_gmt":"2024-09-19T17:56:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=114326"},"modified":"2024-09-19T18:56:21","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T17:56:21","slug":"edo-2024-campaigns-by-political-parties-end-today-inec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/edo-2024-campaigns-by-political-parties-end-today-inec\/","title":{"rendered":"Edo 2024: Campaigns by political parties end today \u2013 INEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1810639853625083233\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has called on political parties to suspend all campaign activities ahead of Saturday\u2019s governorship election in Edo State.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe Commission made this known In a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner &amp; Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, saying all campaigns by political parties must end at midnight today, Thursday, 19th September.<\/p>\n<p>INEC warns of prohibitions, including sanctions, if political parties and their supporters are found campaigning after midnight of September 19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is illegal for any political party in Edo State to engage in rallies, processions or media campaigns from midnight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Commission further instructed parties, candidates and their supporters not to appear at the polling units in their campaign attires or carry any campaign materials with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commission wishes to remind political parties that in line with Section 94(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, and item 12 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2024 Edo State Governorship election, all campaigns by political parties end at midnight today, Thursday 19th September 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is therefore illegal for any political party in Edo State to engage in rallies, processions or media campaigns from midnight today.
