{"id":114440,"date":"2024-09-26T17:34:49","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T16:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=114440"},"modified":"2024-09-26T17:34:49","modified_gmt":"2024-09-26T16:34:49","slug":"just-in-new-minimum-wage-nigerian-govt-begins-payment-to-civil-servants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/just-in-new-minimum-wage-nigerian-govt-begins-payment-to-civil-servants\/","title":{"rendered":"Just in: New Minimum Wage: Nigerian govt begins payment to civil servants"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1811270069008072052\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Civil servants under the federal government payroll will start receiving the new minimum wage payment from Thursday, the 26th of September.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe Spokesperson of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, was reported to have disclosed this on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He assured Nigerians that workers would begin to get alert of their new minimum wage salary payment starting from Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mokwa did not state if the minimum wage would be paid alongside its arrears.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cFederal Government civil servants will start getting the new minimum wage from today(Thursday) this September 2024. What I can tell you is that the minimum wage salary payment is today I am not sure of the arrears.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His comment comes after the Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Ekpo Nta, on Tuesday confirmed that the government had approved the upward review of consolidated public service salary structure, CONPSS in line with the minimum wage (Amendment) Act, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>This followed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s approval of N70,000 new Minimum wage on July 18, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Thereafter, the Senate passed the new minimum wage bill into law.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Civil servants under the federal government payroll will start receiving the new minimum wage payment from Thursday, the 26th of September.
