A cult clash between two rival cult gangs has reportedly claimed four lives\u00a0\u00a0with many houses set ablaze in NorthBank area of Makurdi, the\u00a0\u00a0Benue State capital.<\/p>\n

Our Correspondent gathered that , the crisis between the two cult groups(Red and Black) which has been brewing in the last few days got to head on Sunday\u00a0\u00a0and Monday when the two gangs engaged in a gun fight.<\/p>\n

The gunfight caused heavy pandemonium in and around the North Bank area, with residents scampering for safety.<\/p>\n

It was further gathered that the clash has caused panic over fears of reprisal attack, which has made many residents to\u00a0\u00a0desert the affected area.<\/p>\n

The chairman of anti cultism group in North Bank area,\u00a0\u00a0Operations Shara, Alhaji Haruna Nuhu, who confirmed the development, told our correspondent on phone that, the two rival cult gangs engaged in the clash at about 9pm on Saturday, Sunday and continued till Monday and early on Tuesday<\/p>\n

According to him, the unfortunate incident led to the death of four cultists, saying that their identities is yet to be known at the moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs at yesterday, only one person was killed. Then, last week, they killed two persons. In fact, one of the victims was badly butchered.<\/p>\n

\u201cUp till now, we have not seen the body of one of them and the second person, we discovered\u00a0\u00a0today (Tuesday) that his head was cut off. Again, yesterday the boys shot one person on his eye.<\/p>\n

So, between last week and today(Tuesday), they have killed four people\u201d, Nuhu said.<\/p>\n

Another resident of the area, who spoke to our correspondent on phone in Makurdi on Tuesday on condition of anonymity, said there was a cult ramage in North Bank on Sunday\u00a0\u00a0and Monday morning which resulted to the killing of four persons and burning of houses.<\/p>\n

He lamented that persistent cult clash between rival groups in the State particularly in the North Bank area, has become a source of worry, as it has affected economic and social activities of the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a ramage yesterday in North bank and this afternoon again, (today), there was a house burning at Ter Guma street in North bank.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know whether government wants everybody to be wiped away before they will do something positive. These our\u00a0\u00a0boys engaged in killings yesterday and today up till now that am talking to you.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is now that they decided to go and bury the young man that was killed on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of things are going on in this area that the public need to know. This issue of\u00a0\u00a0cult boys in North bank is causing a lot of problems because now,\u00a0\u00a0whether you are a member or not anything can happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I am talking to you now, so many people have lost their lives within this period of time\u201d, the source said.<\/p>\n

Efforts to speak with the Benue State command police public relations officer SP Catherine Anene prove abortive\u00a0\u00a0as she could not respond to\u00a0\u00a0text messages sent to her cell phone or return to calls as at the time of filing this report.<\/p><\/div>\n
