{"id":115213,"date":"2024-11-19T20:11:32","date_gmt":"2024-11-19T19:11:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=115213"},"modified":"2024-11-19T20:11:32","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T19:11:32","slug":"just-in-senate-holds-valedictory-session-for-late-ifeanyi-ubah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/just-in-senate-holds-valedictory-session-for-late-ifeanyi-ubah\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: Senate holds valedictory session for late Ifeanyi Ubah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate, on Tuesday, dedicated its plenary session to honour the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The casket bearing the remains of the senator lay in state at the foyer of the White House wing, directly in front of the Senate Chamber.<\/p>\n<p>The day\u2019s order paper featured only one item: \u201cValedictory Session.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a show of respect, Senate President Godswill Akpabio donned traditional Isi-Enyi attire, paired with a matching red cap and dark sunglasses. Similarly, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele wore Isi-Agu attire.<\/p>\n<p>Ubah\u2019s seat in the chamber was adorned with flowers and draped in a cloth painted in the colours of the Nigerian flag.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe session was open to non-senators, allowing dignitaries and other invited guests to pay their respects.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Anambra State Governor Chris Ngige, and former Anambra Central Senator Uche Ekwunife were among those in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>The wives of presiding and principal Senate officers were also present, including Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the Senate President; Hajiya Jibrin Barau, wife of the Deputy Senate President; and Oluyemisi Bamidele, wife of the Senate Leader.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, led a delegation of House leaders in a solemn procession around the late senator\u2019s casket.<\/p>\n<p>The atmosphere was sombre as the Senate paid its final tributes to Senator Ubah, whose contributions to the legislative body were celebrated during the session.<\/p><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate, on Tuesday, dedicated its plenary session to honour the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South in the National Assembly.
