{"id":115440,"date":"2024-11-29T13:35:11","date_gmt":"2024-11-29T12:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=115440"},"modified":"2024-11-29T13:35:11","modified_gmt":"2024-11-29T12:35:11","slug":"nnpc-disclaims-community-residents-comments-on-pharcourt-refinery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/nnpc-disclaims-community-residents-comments-on-pharcourt-refinery\/","title":{"rendered":"NNPC Disclaims Community Resident\u2019s Comments on P\u2019Harcourt Refinery"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1817058365043412331\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) Friday described as \u2018crass display of ignorance\u2019, comments credited to a resident of the Alesa-Eleme community, where the Power Harcourt refinery is located.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m#msg-f:1817058365043412331-content\" class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe national oil company, in a statement in Abuja by its spokesman, Olufemi Soneye, said it was aware that one Timothy Mgbere characterised the much publicised re-streaming of the Port Harcourt and truck-out of petrol as false.<\/p>\n<p>According to Soneye, the remarks by Mgbere were also consistent with his claim of being a \u2018community person\u2019 who he alleged does not necessarily have any knowledge about the workings of the Port Harcourt Refinery.<\/p>\n<p>Soneye pointed out that Mgbere\u2019s claim that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery was only operating skeletally and was not processing petrol was baseless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis proof was that the PMS truck-out was done at the gantry of the New Port Harcourt Refinery as against the gantry of the Old Port Harcourt Refinery. This betrays his scant knowledge of the operations of the refinery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c The Old and New Port Harcourt Refineries have since been integrated with one single terminal for products load-out. They share common utilities like power and storage tanks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c This means that storage tanks and loading gantry which he claimed belongs to the New Port-Harcourt Refinery can also receive products from the Old Port Harcourt Refinery,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The NNPC stressed that the same person who claimed that the old facility has its own separate loading gantry from that of the new one further went on to contradict himself by saying that the petrol that was loaded from the supposed loading gantry of the new refinery was \u201cold stock\u201d from the old one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, how did the purported old stock move from the Old Port Harcourt Refinery to the loading gantry of the New Port Harcourt Refinery? Going by the flawed argument of the so-called \u2018community person\u2019, \u2018old PMS stock\u2019 from the Old Port Harcourt Refinery can be moved to the loading gantry of the New Port-Harcourt Refinery for show, but newly produced PMS from the Old Port-Harcourt Refinery can only be loaded at its own dedicated gantry. This is nothing but ignorance on full display,\u201d Soneye said.<\/p>\n<p>He observed that there were a number of other \u2018wild claims\u2019 made by the man, one of which he said was that the refinery was producing 1.4 million barrels per day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe nameplate capacity of the refinery is 60,000barrels of oil per day.
