{"id":115767,"date":"2024-12-18T00:58:23","date_gmt":"2024-12-17T23:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=115767"},"modified":"2024-12-18T00:58:23","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T23:58:23","slug":"inec-restores-ezeokenwa-as-apga-chairman-after-supreme-court-judgment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/inec-restores-ezeokenwa-as-apga-chairman-after-supreme-court-judgment\/","title":{"rendered":"INEC restores Ezeokenwa as APGA chairman after Supreme Court judgment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1818717367391425793\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday announced its compliance with the Supreme Court judgment affirming Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m#msg-f:1818717367391425793-content\" class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThis was announced in a statement issued by the INEC\u2019s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the commission disclosed that its meeting earlier in the day addressed the protracted leadership tussle within APGA, which has been the subject of legal battles.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court judgment, delivered on November 27, 2024, with Appeal No. SC\/CV\/824\/2024, ruled in favour of Ezeokenwa as the legitimate chairman of APGA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commission met today, Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Among other issues, the meeting discussed the leadership issue in the All Progressives Grand Alliance which has been the subject of litigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commission has been served with the judgment of the Supreme Court with Appeal No. SC\/CV\/824\/2024 APGA &amp; ANOR vs OYE &amp; ORS, delivered on 27th November 2024 recognising Barr. Sylvester (Sly) Ezeokenwa as the Chairman of the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn compliance with the judgment of the apex court, the commission has restored Barr.
