{"id":115824,"date":"2024-12-21T22:44:06","date_gmt":"2024-12-21T21:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=115824"},"modified":"2024-12-21T22:44:06","modified_gmt":"2024-12-21T21:44:06","slug":"290-witnesses-set-to-testify-in-pdp-ighodalo-election-petition-against-okpebholo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/290-witnesses-set-to-testify-in-pdp-ighodalo-election-petition-against-okpebholo\/","title":{"rendered":"290 witnesses set to testify in PDP\/Ighodalo election petition against Okpebholo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1819068556127572924\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hearing of the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, against the victory of Governor Monday Okpebholo in the September 21 election has been adjourned to January 13, 2025, by the Edo Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m#msg-f:1819068556127572924-content\" class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThis followed the adopted pre-hearing report yesterday, which was read by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Wilfred Kpochi, who announced that the parties agreed to call a total of 290 witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>He said the report outlined the timeframe for the examination of witnesses, with 40 minutes allocated for examination-in-chief for each star witness, 30 minutes for cross-examination by the petitioners, and 20 minutes for cross-examination by each respondent.<\/p>\n<p>He said other agreements reached by the parties include the allocation of 10 minutes for re-examination of each star witness and 25 minutes for examination-in-chief for other ordinary witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioners are expected to call their witnesses within 21 days or less, while respondents will have 10 days each to call their witnesses, as the tribunal will sit daily from 10 a.m., except on Sundays and other public holidays gazetted by law.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Kpochi said there shall be no consolidation of the petition with any other, as there was no application in respect thereof, and no amendment of such shall be entertained.
