{"id":116028,"date":"2025-01-19T06:20:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-19T05:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=116028"},"modified":"2025-01-19T06:20:00","modified_gmt":"2025-01-19T05:20:00","slug":"scores-killed-in-petrol-tanker-explosion-in-niger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/scores-killed-in-petrol-tanker-explosion-in-niger\/","title":{"rendered":"Scores killed in Petrol Tanker Explosion in Niger"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1821613592592363356\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit(PMS) popularly known as petrol, has\u00a0\u00a0exploded and reportedly killed several people and injured so many others at Dikko junction in Niger State.<\/div>\n<div id=\"m#msg-f:1821613592592363356-content\" class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nIt was gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday morning in a community between Niger and Kaduna states.<\/p>\n<p>It was further learnt that shortly after the speeding tanker fell and spilt its content, onlookers rushed to the scene to scoop the liquid content.<\/p>\n<p>According to an eye witness who spoke on condition of anonymity, the tanker exploded while the residents were trying to scoop the fuel that\u00a0\u00a0spilled from the tanker.<\/p>\n<p>Many others sustained various degrees of injury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was while they were scooping the fuel that the tanker exploded and burnt many of the residents who were scooping the fuel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany others who were far from the tanker however escaped but were badly injured in the process of trying to run for their dear lives.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0\u00a0Chief Press Secretary to Niger State Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, confirmed the incidence to newsmen.<\/p>\n<p>He said that he was on\u00a0\u00a0the State Governor, Mohammed Bago\u2019s entourage to Suleja and Tafa Local Government Areas to inspect the government\u2019s projects and ran into the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim said the governor expressed shock at the incident and called on security agents to ensure there was adequate security while other humanitarian agents were working to restore normalcy in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The CPS further stated that the governor called for caution from road users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNiger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, expresses shock over a tanker explosion that claimed several lives in Dikko junction, around the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe governor describes the explosion as worrisome, heartbreaking and unfortunate. He specifically sympathises with the families of the victims of the explosion and prays that Allah will repose the souls of the departed and heal the injured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe governor, however, cautioned the people to always be responsible and give priority to their safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe directed all the relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to do what is necessary while urging security agents to ensure security in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol tanker, was said to have exploded at Dikko junction this morning, after which some residents of the area went to scoop its content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScores were said to have been burnt to death, while several others sustained various degrees of burnt,\u201d he stated.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit(PMS) popularly known as petrol, has\u00a0\u00a0exploded and reportedly killed several people and injured so many others at Dikko junction in Niger State.
