{"id":116118,"date":"2025-01-25T15:17:24","date_gmt":"2025-01-25T14:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=116118"},"modified":"2025-01-25T15:17:24","modified_gmt":"2025-01-25T14:17:24","slug":"passengers-injured-as-us-bound-flight-returns-to-lagos-over-technical-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/passengers-injured-as-us-bound-flight-returns-to-lagos-over-technical-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Passengers Injured As US-Bound Flight Returns To Lagos Over Technical Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"adn ads\" data-message-id=\"#msg-f:1822157410323821496\" data-legacy-message-id=\"19499a82af3273b8\">\n<div class=\"gs\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<div id=\":19s\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":19t\" class=\"a3s aiL \">\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A United States-bound flight operated by American Airlines, United Airlines, developed technical hitches mid-air, forcing the aircraft to return to Lagos.<br \/>\nThe incident happened on Thursday with a few of the passengers injured from the impact of the incident.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe aircraft, a Boeing 787-800 plane with 245 passengers, eight flight attendants, and three pilots on board, was headed for Washington Dulles International Airport before declaring an emergency and returned to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nSources confirmed\u00a0that food\u00a0and passengers\u2019 luggage were scattered following the impact on the aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the technical hitches was yet to be known while passengers are yet to be airlifted back to the US.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nWhen contacted, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Mr.\u00a0Micheal Achimugu, confirmed the incident.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nHe stated that arrangement was being made to convey the passengers to the US, noting that the passengers had been lodged in a hotel as stipulated by the regulatory act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigation is ongoing,\u201d he added.The airline in a statement also confirmed\u00a0\u201ca technical issue\u201d occurred on the flight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlight UA613 from Lagos to Washington D.C. returned to Lagos to address a technical issue.
