{"id":117268,"date":"2025-04-12T08:12:39","date_gmt":"2025-04-12T07:12:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=117268"},"modified":"2025-04-12T08:13:46","modified_gmt":"2025-04-12T07:13:46","slug":"corbon-bingham-university-strengthen-ties-on-construction-standards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/corbon-bingham-university-strengthen-ties-on-construction-standards\/","title":{"rendered":"CORBON, Bingham University Strengthen Ties on Construction Standards"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Daniel Adaji<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its collaboration with Bingham University in the area of construction standards, safety, and sustainability.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Chairman of CORBON, Dr. Samson Opaluwah disclosed this to Pointblank News on Friday.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He noted that the commitment was made during a recent courtesy call by the Chairman and Registrar of CORBON on the Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University, Prof. Haruna Ayuba.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The visit follows an earlier one by the Vice-Chancellor and his management team to the Council\u2019s office last year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Ayuba welcomed the CORBON delegation warmly, acknowledging their sustained partnership with the university.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThere have been ongoing discussions with the Council regarding old and current projects within the university, particularly for conducting integrity tests to ensure that buildings stand the test of time,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He further emphasized that \u201cthe Council can also advise the university on related matters.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In his remarks, the Chairman of CORBON, expressed appreciation for the Vice-Chancellor\u2019s earlier visit and explained that their visit to the university was a working one.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cCORBON is the regulatory body responsible for setting standards, ensuring compliance, and promoting excellence in the building profession,\u201d he stated.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThrough registration, capacity development, and the enforcement of ethical practices, CORBON enhances the quality, safety, and sustainability of construction projects across Nigeria,\u201d Opaluwah added.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Opaluwah also expressed confidence in the potential of the collaboration.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI believe the partnership with the university will be productive, as envisioned by the founding fathers of the institution,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He went on to commend the university\u2019s growth over the years and congratulated Ayuba on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The visit concluded with a tour of some ongoing construction projects on campus, as both parties explored ways to deepen their collaboration in advancing best practices in the built environment.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Also present during the visit were the University Registrar, Mr. Daburi Bello Misal; the University Librarian, Assoc. Prof. Joshua Sani Magoi; the Director of Works, Arch.
