{"id":117373,"date":"2025-04-14T22:42:55","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T21:42:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=117373"},"modified":"2025-04-14T22:42:55","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T21:42:55","slug":"no-record-of-unpaid-salary-to-christian-chukwu-nff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/no-record-of-unpaid-salary-to-christian-chukwu-nff\/","title":{"rendered":"No Record of Unpaid Salary to Christian Chukwu-NFF"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1829397569674885834\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Oscar Okhifo, Abuja<\/div>\n<div id=\"m#msg-f:1829397569674885834-content\" class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says there is no record to show that the recently passed ex-Super Eagles Coach and Captain Christian, Chukwu is being owned by the Federation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Federation, through the General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, insists that the outstanding salary owed to the legend has been paid.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In a statement on Monday, Mohammed Sanusi, NFF General secretary, says the federation has \u201cno record\u201d of any\u00a0 indebtedness to the legendary footballer who died on April 12, 2025<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Chukwu was the Eagles Captain when Nigeria won its first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 1980 on home soil.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Between 2002 and 2005, Chukwu served as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles leading the team to winning a bronze medal at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted in Tunisia.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In April 2024, Chukwu accused the NFF of owing him salary from his tenure as head coach of the\u00a0 national team.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Reacting to the allegation after Chukwu\u2019s death, the NFF General secretary asked anyone with a \u201cgenuine document\u201d of the Federation&#8217;s indebtedness to the late Chukwu to present it to the federation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Muhammed said a panel was set up at some point to resolve all outstanding payments to coaches. According to him, even debts\u00a0 from previous NFF administrations were paid.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The NFF general secretary claimed that Chukwu\u2019s salary was among those cleared by the committee.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThere is no record in the NFF of any outstanding indebtedness to \u2018Chairman Chukwu,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cDuring the first term of the Board headed by Mr. Amaju Pinnick, a committee was set up to diligently verify the documents of coaches who were being owed by the Federation . We dug back to previous NFF administrations to unearth such indebtedness.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThat committee was expressly mandated to verify and clear all debts immediately.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI am aware that \u2018Chairman\u2019 was at the service of the NFF between 2002 and 2005, before he was relieved of the post following the 1-1 draw with Angola in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Kano in August 2005.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;There is certainly no record of any indebtedness to him in the NFF. That is all we know.
