{"id":117386,"date":"2025-04-14T23:27:38","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T22:27:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=117386"},"modified":"2025-04-14T23:27:38","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T22:27:38","slug":"access-bank-acquires-national-bank-of-kenya-from-kcb-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/access-bank-acquires-national-bank-of-kenya-from-kcb-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Access Bank Acquires National Bank of Kenya from KCB Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1829399528650334814\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Daniel Adaji<\/div>\n<div id=\"m#msg-f:1829399528650334814-content\" class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Nigeria&#8217;s leading Money Deposit Bank, Access Bank PLC has officially acquired 100 per cent of the shareholding in National Bank of Kenya Limited (NBK) from KCB Group PLC.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) announced this on Monday.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The transaction received CBK\u2019s approval on April 4, 2025, under Section 13(4) of the Banking Act, and was subsequently greenlit by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning on April 10, 2025, pursuant to Section 9 of the same Act.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThis follows CBK&#8217;s approval on April 4, 2025, and approval by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning on April 10, 2025,\u201d the regulator said in a statement.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As part of the acquisition, CBK also approved the transfer of specific assets and liabilities from NBK to KCB Bank Kenya Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of KCB Group. The Cabinet Secretary similarly approved this transfer on the same date.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe acquisition and transfer shall take effect upon completion of the transaction in accordance with the terms of the Agreement between the parties,\u201d the statement added.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>NBK was founded in 1968 as a government-owned institution to help Kenyans access credit and participate in the economy post-independence.
